This work is modeled on a matchstick kit of the Statue of Liberty. As a cultural icon the world over, Liberty, is exhibited in a state of demise, near collapse, incomplete in some way. In this setting, When Things Come Apart, reponses to the gallery space, with panels tumbling out of the wall and the ‘body parts’ detached from each other and placed around the gallery. Each time the work is exhibited it responds to the space it is shown in. To see other installs of this work, please refer to: Atkinson Gallery Artist In My Own Residency or Wells Cathedral as part of Wells Art Contemporary 2021.
